Hi, I’m Julie.

A mom, writer, pet lifestyle pro, and lifelong dog and K9 advocate.

I live in Washington with my husband, Mike. We raised two amazing human kids, Michael and Julianne, who have now grown up and started their own lives, but not before learning something very important from me: dogs matter and helping them always matters.
My daughter now has two dogs, including a pitbull and a wonderful mixed breed. My son has cats for now, but he still gets his dog-fix by volunteering at local shelters. If you ever see a woman running into traffic trying to save a loose dog… that’s probably my daughter; just keep driving. We’re also big supporters of K9 units and donate whenever we can to help them get the equipment they need to stay safe while protecting others.

How Dogs Found Me

I didn’t grow up with dogs. Mike did, so he was a little more prepared than I was. I learned something important along the way, though: it’s never too late to start loving dogs.

My first three dogs came into my life when they were still puppies. The first, Madison, I bought from a breeder before I really understood what rescue was. The second, Molly, was spotted by my daughter in a mall, and that was that. The third, Pepper, was a rescue… and she changed everything.
Once I truly learned about rescue dogs and what they’re really like, I was completely sold. Those three girls were with me for 15 years, and we went through everything alongside them: heart disease, cancer, surgeries, and every challenge in between. When my last one passed away during surgery, I was shattered. I told myself I could never go through that pain again.
But my heart needed healing.
And somehow, I believe my three angels sent me my next three miracles: Mochi, Pickles, and Gypsy.

Why I Only Adopt Now

This time around, I made a promise to myself:
I would only adopt senior dogs.

I know my time with them may be shorter, but I also know their love is just as deep. My goal is to give them the best final chapters of their lives, filled with comfort, safety, joy, and unbelievable amounts of love.

Mochi, Pickles, and Gypsy are my world. They are silly, sweet, and endlessly loving. All of my dogs have taught me more about patience, forgiveness, and unconditional love than I ever thought possible.

Why This Site Exists

Every post you’ll find here connects to my core values:

Compassion. Kindness. Empathy. Community. Advocacy. And leading with love.

Whether I’m writing about adoption, care, loss, joy, or everyday dog life, it all comes back to one thing: helping dogs live better lives, and helping humans understand them more deeply.

My animals are my heart and my best friends. They inspire me every single day. I hope this space does the same for you.

We’re in this together. Let’s help as many dogs as we can. Never stop believing that you can make a difference, no matter how small.
